Being a teen boot camp officer is a highly respectful job as it deals in helping troubled youngsters. However, you cannot just get that position whenever you want to because of its strict requirements. Read this article to know how to become a teen boot camp officer.

Have the passion

Working in a tough environment such as teen boot camps is obviously very challenging because of the various issues that the kids in the facility have and are struggling to deal with. Working in such a place is indeed very challenging, and yet a teen boot camp officer only earns a regular amount of salary. So, keep in mind that once you start working in that facility, money will still not come easy for you. Your only consolation would be your love for helping troubled youngsters and the emotional rewards upon seeing a particular student making his/her life anew.

Apply for certificates

Before you can get accepted as an officer at a teen boot camp, you will be required to submit certain certificates. These certificates include fitness and boot camp instructor. Take the necessary classes to acquire for these certificates, and then apply for them either at the American Council on Exercise (ACE) or at the American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA). You can even get a discount for your certificate from ACE if you take both fitness and instructor classes from them. In addition to those two types of certificates, you also need to get a first aid, CPR, and skills in using the device for automated external defibrillator form Red Cross. Learn of these skills from YMCA and then apply for the certificates.

Have experience

Most teen Boot Camp facilities also hire applicants who already have prior volunteer experience. Thus, increase your chances of getting hired by volunteering in similar facilities in your area before sending your resume. You can gain valuable experience from facilities such as juvenile halls, homeless shelters, and troubled youth homes, among others.

All you have to do now after completing all requirements is to apply at the private boot camp of your choice or a government-run facility.
