Laminate flooring is made of synthetic materials which are laminated in to fuse the multi-layer products. It is easy to install as it is a do-it-yourself product. It is composed of a plank and number of tongues that are glued together. In removing it, there are some easy ways to follow so as not to distort your sub-floor and you can replace them immediately.
Clear the area within the laminate flooring
Clearing the area first before removing the laminate flooring will avoid any accidents or damages to the surrounding furniture. Remove all baseboards and trims within the area so as to make sure you can remove and clean your laminate flooring.
Cut each plank down the center
Use a saw in cutting each plank down the center as it breaks and be manageable using this equipment. Breaking the planks into pieces makes it more easy to remove and you'll save more time installing the new laminate flooring.
Move the wood out of place
Use rubber mallets in forcing the multi-layered laminates out of place. You can also slide a chisel into the groove where you first cut your plank for those which are not glued together. Repeat these steps until all of the flooring are removed completely.
Pull up sections that are glued together
With laminate flooring which are glued together, you can use a pry bar to take off the planks and grooves. Force the pry bar into the groove and push it upward so as to detach the glued laminates from each other and out of the sub-floor.
